Until 1960 Guinea was a member of the franc zone and it's legal tender was the CFA franc. That year Guinea introdued it's own currency - the guinean franc. In 1972 new currency unit - the syli - was introduced instead of the franc, but in 1986 the guinean franc was restored. 1 franc equals 100 santimes.
