Peruan pound was a legal tender in Peru from 1897 to 1930. In 1930 sol de oro ("golden sol") was introduced. Due to hard inflation in the 1970ies and 1980ies, the sol was replaced by inti at 1:1000 ratio. In 1994 nueva sol replaced the completely devalued inti. 1 sol equals 100 centavos.
